Re: rate the last movie you saw
I have seen Clash Of The Titans. I didn't think Harryhausen's work landed until the Medusa sequence. The story wasn't particularly compelling compared to Jason and The Argonauts or even Golden Voyage of Sinbad which was more recent,

The Vanishing (1993) 7.5 of 10 -Another blind sample for me on the OOP Twilight Time Blu-Ray. I have to admit this turned out to be pretty good. Bridges is off-the-wall psycho-evil and the tension holds up to the end. Not being familiar with the Dutch original version, I read now how critics were t...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
That's really the only reason I'd prefer to try it, because it has Goldsmith's score. If I'm going to watch this movie I'd rather it be two versions with Jerry! I don't have a region-free player though I can rip a foreign region Blu-Ray to my computer and reconvert back to a blank Blu-Ray (did that ...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
No, I wouldn't say its depressing, but it is a bit marginally "less happy". But then again, like I said this is not the kind of movie that I know how to connect with which is why films like Willow, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal and even the LOTR trilogy remain unseen by me. Of late, I've been tr...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
Legend (1985) (Director's Cut) -This was the first time I'd ever seen any version of this film. I only wanted to see a version with Goldsmith's score. But that said, this was a chore to get through because it just gave me a reminder that this kind of fantasy movie with elves. goblins etc. is just n...

Re: THE ODD COUPLE Complete Series Blu-Ray $22 (After Coupon)
Any set that doesn't restore the episodes which are missing key moments of comedy because of the music butchery done (especially the Pernell Roberts episode where the song "Cocktails For Two" is vital) is a no-sale with me. "Cocktails For Two" is also prominent in the Season 3 ep...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
Jaws 3 (1983) 6 of 10 -I think I've only watched this film once before in the past but today I looked at in on the soon to be displaced Blu-Ray. The FX look awful and since I'll never have a 3D TV set I'll never be able to see it that way anyway. I found though to my surprise that if you don't trea...

Re: Weekend Box Office 5/5 - FALL GUY Falls From Expectations
When people my age think of "The Fall Guy" we tend to remember Markie Post and Heather Thomas more than Lee Majors.

Re: rate the last movie you saw
That reminds me, the fact they didn't show Roy killing Sebastien was another thing that left me confused at first. They only communicated that in a police voiceover and I missed that at first. For goodness sake if he's in the room, then show Roy doing the same thing to him (and don't waste extra tim...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
For me the opening scroll made this pretty clear: " After a bloody mutiny by a NEXUS 6 combat team in an Off-world colony, Replicants were declared illegal on earth ". Bryant later fills-in Deckard on the fugitive replicants: "They slaughtered twenty-three people and jumped a shuttle...

Re: rate the last movie you saw
Blade Runner (1982) 6 of 10. (US cut) -I had never seen this film before or any of its variants. I think because it was an R-rated film in 1982 that's why I couldn't see it (I was 13 then; I didn't see an R-rated film theatrically until the following year when I saw "Blue Thunder") and su...

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th - SPOILERS
The real problem is this. This present day breed of anti-Christian bigots also hates the idea of absolute Evil embodied by the concept of Satan, the Devil and Hell. They are the kind of people whose relativism and disdain for absolute concepts of Good and Evil makes them regard the very idea of Hell...

Re: Disney's OMEN Prequel - April 5th
*********"Retconning" THE OMEN so that it's all (SPOILER) the work of some crazy Catholics trying to up dwindling church attendance (!) by rebirthing the Anti-Christ is just asinine******* That is the kind of asinine plotline that only the anti-Christian bigots of Hollywood could conjure. ...

Re: KING KONG (1976) on 4K UHD
Got my copy today. Can't deny the transfer is spectacular. I will always have a soft spot for this film because it was the first "big event" movie of my life at age seven. I remember seeing it in the Chatham Cinema when it came out, and I still have the trading card set and I can remember ...
