Re: rate the last movie you saw
Apparently the 2nd half of that takes even MORE liberties with the source material than the first part!

Re: KINDERGARTEN COP - Kino Lorber 4K UHD Incoming
The art of cinematography is mostly dead and buried in the digital age. Everything mostly looks glossy and very much the same. It's why you go back to movies from decades ago and just the look of them is, as you said MJ, interesting and different.

Doesn't look like he's worked with Scott before either, other than this one, barely-released 2011 film he produced -- which was shot in Rhode Island (with some scenes filmed at our local hospital that Joanne worked at!).

GREEN ICE (1981) - Andy's Imprint Blu-Ray Review
7/10 Premiering in high-definition for the first time is one of producer Lew Grade’s many box-office wipeouts from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s – GREEN ICE (109 mins., 1981) – an appealing enough caper-thriller that, to the best of my knowledge, never received a theatrical run in the U.S. That’s pro...

Re: Extended editions
The Halloween TV cut was mostly (all?) scenes Carpenter himself shot during the production of HALLOWEEN II, expressly for the NBC broadcast of HALLOWEEN I. I've always found them unnecessary and slow the movie down, but they do establish that sibling element that comes up in the sequel. One of them ...

Re: Captain America? Phuck no!
Well that's the thing -- Disney won't leave them alone because it's not how they make the magic as George would say. What did Bob Iger say, that he watches every movie 3-5 times before it gets released? That's their whole problem in a nutshell. Says a lot that they continue to churn out this stuff a...

Testing worse than THE MARVELS! Fraught with reshoots and no clear direction.
This video is an awesome example of what making a movie for Disney/Marvel is like.

Re: Young Woman & The Sea
Looks like it's just a "limited release" so they can plug some holes in the theatrical marketplace. The problem with that is that, if it doesn't have "cinematic value," these produced-for-streaming movies show their shortcomings on the big screen. To me THE FIRST OMEN looked like...

Re: Dune TV version
I finally received the big Koch set -- and I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I was going to. Much better set than Arrow's in numerous ways, from the audio on the movie itself (superior encoded 2.0 track) to the TV and Spicediver cuts. Arrow's release is one of the few times I'd argue they kin...

George Lucas 60 MINUTES Interview (1999) on Andy's YT Channel
I dug out my tape of this excellent pre-PHANTOM MENACE release interview from 60 MINUTES and put it up on my channel. It's a really good glimpse into the excitement before this film was released, the watershed moment this movie was for digital technology (for better or worse), and Lucas' overall POV...

Re: Andy's Youtube Uploads - Post-Siskel & Ebert SNEAK PREVIEWS Archive Unearthed
A time when movies were aimed at adults and not 12 year-olds is more what I meant to say. This is not the cinema of 2024 which is one recycled concept after another. I agree with Gene on Great Train Robbery...a movie you want to like...but it's stilted and dull. I've only managed to get th...

Re: Andy's Youtube Uploads - Post-Siskel & Ebert SNEAK PREVIEWS Archive Unearthed
My friend's archive of Lyons/Medved/Gabler shows dried up so I'm just re-upping the 100+ episodes from Gene and Roger's PBS SNEAK PREVIEWS run, one each week. These were put up by someone at PBS for IMDB and then removed last year. I'll be at it a while but I don't have much time to invest right now...

Re: This Week's Aisle Seat - Spring Rundown Edition
Exactly Andy, it was licensed through Studio Canal. Very odd Warner picked it up for the American market but sat on it. The director claimed it was because of TIGHTROPE but I don't know how accurate that was.
