Re: JUSTICE LEAGUE In All Kinds of Trouble?

Maybe cooler heads will prevail at WB and finally put a stop to this franchise. I guess they could make another Wonder Woman, as that got some good attention (although the movie itself was frankly a bit "meh" for my taste). But they really could take a hint from Universal's attempt at rebo...

Re: Universal Pulls Plug on "Dark Universe" Monster Franchise?

I see that now. They only put the DVDs out for those movies. But they did Blus for all the others.
My instincts say they'll put Blus out of those anyway next year. Part of their catalogue material to release.

Re: Universal Pulls Plug on "Dark Universe" Monster Franchise?

I thought Universal had already done a pretty solid release of the other classic monster movies from their collection onto Blu-ray last year.
The other Dracula movies, Frankenstein movies, the "House of..." movies, etc.

Re: Universal Pulls Plug on "Dark Universe" Monster Franchise?

This is a smart move by Universal. They've always been smarter in their financial approach. Unlike WB, which is cruising for a serious bruising with its attempt at a DC Universe series of movies - so far, they've only shown promise with a single movie out of four, and the upcoming one may or may not...

Re: Stranger Things 2 - Halloween

Andy, I'm staying in Concord.
Weekdays and parts of weekends are taken up with work.
We start shooting my ep on Monday up in Orange for two days before coming down to Devens for the rest of the week.
I'll be here til about December 4th, as far as I know.

Re: Stranger Things 2 - Halloween

I'm actually in Massachusetts now, staying in Concord while I work on an episode of Castle Rock. Power's been on up here, but I arrived on Sunday, in the middle of some big storms. Just finished Stranger Things S2. I enjoyed the first season last year. The second season is stronger, as they've devel...

Re: Criterion 24-Hour 50% off Flash Sale

I just put in my catch-up orders for the past three months.
Between Criterion and Barnes & Noble, I can usually take care of my Criterion interests once every 4 to 6 months.
They've trained me to just do this as a kind of layaway idea...

Re: SUPERMAN 188-Min. Extended Version -- Coming to Blu-Ray!

In the original Donner/Mank version of the first two movies, they take place within a day or so of each other. Superman The Movie was originally to end with the missile Superman tossed into space exploding and rupturing the Phantom Zone, and the movie would end with the villains yelling "FREE!&...

Re: SUPERMAN 188-Min. Extended Version -- Coming to Blu-Ray!

One of those generals is played by Bruce Boa, who I immediately recognized from multiple other parts he did around the same time. He was General Rieekan in Empire Strikes Back and he played an exasperated Colonel in Full Metal Jacket who castigates Joker about his helmet decoration. But his best app...

Re: SUPERMAN 188-Min. Extended Version -- Coming to Blu-Ray!

It's fairly clear to me that if Richard Donner had not been fired by the Salkinds, he would have needed to take some time to rethink Superman II and to reshoot some of what he had previously shot in the rush to get both movies done. The Clark/Jor El scene either needed to be reshot or needed the ADR...

Re: SUPERMAN 188-Min. Extended Version -- Coming to Blu-Ray!

I took two nights to go through the disc - 90 minutes each night. (And by the way, that Cheerio's shot is interesting - you can clearly see the front of the box from the inside angle. But when they cut to the view of Martha's face through the window from outside, the front of the Cheerio's box can c...

I'm not sure what they're on about with this. I thought they were doing the Demon Bear story but this looks like some kind of creepy hospital movie.

Re: BLADE RUNNER 2049 - Official Thread

The opening scene of the movie is actually a lift from one of Hampton Fancher's early drafts with Ridley Scott for the 1982 movie. Fancher describes this scene in detail in the Dangerous Days documentary.

Re: BLADE RUNNER 2049 - Official Thread

I've been a fan of Blade Runner since I saw it on the Z Channel in 1983. When I first saw it, I thought it was visually and aurally stunning but initially cold - until that ending, at which point I realized the story that Ridley Scott had been trying to tell in a fairly clumsy manner. (The movie's g...

Re: SUPERMAN 188-Min. Extended Version -- Coming to Blu-Ray!

I'm likely to pick this up just for the curiosity. I remember seeing the ABC version on TV back when it aired, and I still have a VHS copy of that. I'd be happy to pick up a Blu-ray of it for the novelty. Some of the material is fun - like the Kryptonian Guard getting wiped out on his way to visit J...
