You know, I have liked other scores by Gregson-Williams and really loved his work on KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, but I just could not get into his NARNIA score to save my life, every direction he took musically seemed ineffectual or misguided. Another composer on the series would be appreciated.

I was quite happy when both UNDER FIRE and TWILIGHT ZONE were issued on CD from Warners several years back, I had not owned either up until then and both are among my fav Goldsmith scores (of which there are many!). As for the TZ movie, I never saw it all, remember only bits and will simply enjoy th...

From everything I've read about FIRST BLOOD the release is actually 1982, from the critics reviews to the copyright on the album and even imdb lists its release date as Oct 22 1982...

I can't resist threads about Trek, but will refrain from a lengthy reply at this time - still at work! :) In response to the end of TREK IV, with the cast back at their regular stations, I think it must be kept in mind that Trek is still an episodic format, even when it the big screen. The II-III-IV...

I have the MAD MAX special edition and the original DVD releases of RW and THUNDERDOME - should I wait for the 2-pack of the 2nd and 3rd films together?

I did like the homage to Leone/Morricone, although I think there were about 5 people in the theater, including me and my wife that got the joke. . . Good score work by Zimmer, IMHO. I agree, though I found the music in that particular moment to be a little over the top with too much guitar. At leas...

I'm a fan of the old argument that a movie should only be as long as it needs to in order to tell its story. In terms of PIRATES, I enjoyed PIRATES 2 greatly, was never bored, but could feel that it was a bit overlong. I always hate to read comments from fans who just want all deleted scenes placed ...

I did read that it set a record in terms of openings for animated films. though... you know, somehow you can make any film number one at something! :)

It seems most critics were not so impressed by Shrek 3, but you're right that most kids won't care and will pack in to see the film for weeks. I don't know if it will do Shrek 2 size numbers, though. I think it broke the record as of today, did it not? True, yes, I think for opening weekend, but I ...

I also do get weary of the label "darker" and/or "edgier" for sequels, as if they immediately makes them better or an improvement. How about just make a good film with a good story and characters, and tone be damned? If it's enjoyable and genuinely engaging then that's what count...

Re: Just a rumor

Well, it's your own darn fault for being uninformed as Williams scores to ANY project are worth checking into, as they are always quality work. WAR OF THE WORLDS, MUNICH and GEISHA are all powerhouse scores, varying in styles and approach. I loved SITH as well but I can't imagine anyone who is a Wi...

That's fine, sorry about the assumptions and misunderstandings, I guess I just find it difficult to just dismiss what Williams does as unmemorable, especially when he works so infrequently now, is the last of a dying breed and had a powerhouse in 2005. WAR OF THE WORLDS is such a fierce, thundering ...

Re: Just a rumor

I think considering that SITH was the last thing Williams did... Eh? That was only the first of four scores Williams released in 2005, ending with Spielberg 's Munich . :? Shows you how forgettable that stuff was, since I really didn't remember much past Sith myself. Well, it's your own darn fault ...
