Re: rate the last movie you saw

I just watched Breakdown on Paramount + a week or so ago and agree it is a terrific thriller. You gotta love the vehicular mayhem at the end. And coincidentally I had rewatched U-571 not that long ago and also coincidentally have been watching The Last Ship with my son and Mostow directed the pilot ...

Re: MUPPET SHOW Tagged For "Offensive Content" on Disney+ Service

Is there really anyone out there who sees these content warnings and then stops watching? "Oh, no! I was planning on watching The Muppet Show but Disney says it's offensive so I guess I'll find something else." Please. edited to add: What I mean is what exactly is Disney accomplishing with...

Re: Greatest Show On Earth Blu-Ray

The only part of this movie I've seen is the train wreck at the end. Interesting to read the favorable comments on the hometheaterforum board, with people excited about getting the movie, and then read the reviews on letterboxd in which people are downright angry at the movie, either because of &quo...

Re: Disney+ WandaVision Trailer

I liked episode 4 too, much more than the previous three. Were the sitcom episodes supposed to be funny? I know there was a constant laugh track but was that meant to be ironic? Or did I just not find anything humorous? I was impressed by the production and costume design. They certainly captured th...

Re: Andy's Youtube Uploads - Siskel & Ebert Shows and Other Things of (Minor) Interest

I had the day off today and spent some time watching several of the Siskel and Ebert episodes. Thanks for uploading, Andy. The "What's Wrong with Home Video" episode seems like it would be horribly dated but was actually still relevant. Proper subtitling of foreign movies isn't a problem a...

Re: Hammer Ultimate 20 Film Blu-Ray Collection - Mill Creek 11/17

Placed an order for the Hammer set as well as Charlie's Angels complete series. So if it turns out the low prices are a mistake, they just cancel your order? Has that ever happened before?

Re: Disney Announces Endless Assault of New STAR WARS Streaming Shows, ROGUE SQUADRON Movie

Notice what was missing in all those Star Wars announcements? Any mention of Rian Johnson or J. J. Abrams.

I still think The Mandalorian is a terrific show and easily better than any of the Disney produced feature films. Hopefully these new series will be closer to it than the movies.

Re: WILLOW Sequel Series Ordered for Disney+

Let's hope they don't use the terrible sequel books as inspiration. The podcast "372 Pages We'll Never Get Back" (a sort of MST3K for bad books co-hosted by Mike Nelson) took on Shadow Moon, an official sequel to Willow co-written by George Lucas and Chris Claremont. The hosts immediately ...

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: AMC Theaters To Run Out of Money by Year's End

I can't imagine that the studios will make as much money on their unreleased blockbusters on a streaming platform as they could in a movie theater which is why I think at least some theaters will be open next year. But the big question is: will the studios stop making blockbusters altogether? If the...

Re: The Corona Movie Theater Thread: Back to the Multiplex

Theaters are closing again. A few weeks ago, the Alamo Drafthouse opened up all six of their Dallas area locations. I haven't been back even though one of their theaters is close enough that I ride my bike to it. There's nothing I want to see. Yesterday they announced they were once again temporaril...

Re: rate the last movie you saw

LIAR LIAR 7/10 My wife and I were looking for something fun to watch last night that wouldn’t be too taxing. We settled on Jim Carrey’s 1997 hit LIAR LIAR. I remember it being very popular with audiences when I was working at a movie theater in the 90’s. This is a good example of the kind of movie t...
