Re: DUNE 2: SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN THIS TIME - November 3rd
Super excited about this film...hope I have not psychologically set the bar too high as I do not want to be disappointed! Making my way through all the DUNE prequel novels (one per month) in route to reading DUNE (1967) again before the movie comes out. I am on pace and holding steady.

Re: INDIANA JONES & THE DIAL OF DESTINY - "Frantic Reshoots" STILL On-Going
One thing that irritates me about the new film is that the villains appear to be Nazis....again. Three of the five films therefore have Nazis as the primary enemy. Maybe the title of the film should be INDIANA JONES AND THE NAZIS (AGAIN). I understood it for the original trilogy, but as a one-off th...

Re: Read a Book, then Watch Its Movie!
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER by Ian Fleming (1956, 229 pages). James Bond returns in this follow-up to MOONRAKER, this time with the assignment to infiltrate a diamond smuggling operation in order to discover who is behind it all. Bond takes on the identity of Peter Franks, a small time crook who is suppose...

I wish! Since it is Disney, I am guessing never...unless LLL gets their hands on it and does a three or four disc spectacular 20 to 30 years from now.Paul MacLean wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 12:49 am I wonder if the soundtrack release will contain all of John Williams' music for the various iterations of this movie.

Re: "No demand for theatrical cuts of the OT", sez Favreau
The interest in the original cuts of the film are likely localized among the older generation of fans...those films came out 40+ years ago. And that generation (of which I am a part) is not getting any younger. I have no empiric data to back any of this up, but I imagine it would be a waste of money...

Honestly, I don't understand corporate culture at all. Tell me what positive things she has done which would warrant a send-off like this? I just don't get it.

Re: Ian Fleming Bond Books To Be Rewritten By "Sensitivity Readers"
I hope in a generation or two from now people will look at all this nonsense and laugh hysterically at how stupid these organizations were. Either that, of there won't be anything to look back-on, because the originals will have been criminalized, or destroyed altogether -- and that's what chills m...

Re: Ian Fleming Bond Books To Be Rewritten By "Sensitivity Readers"
Sounds like Daniel Craig had something to do with this...lol... Frankly, I am surprised it took them this long. I have the Fleming novels in their original form, unedited. I guess those will be collector items sooner than later. I expect LIVE AND LET DIE to get heavy editing...probably YOU ONLY LIVE...

Re: Here Comes LORD OF THE RINGS...Again :(
Personally, I would love to see a group of animated films based on the books. The live action stuff would be boring. Were you thinking CGI, or traditional cell animation? Live action or animated, I've honestly always felt that LOTR doesn't lend itself well to cinematic adaptation, owing to its leng...

Re: RIP Burt Bacharach - Appreciation Thread
Truly one of the most gifted composers out there. And a big HELL YEAH! to Arthur's Theme...great tune. The Carpenters recorded a medley of BB/Hal Davis songs. And it was The Carpenters that made (They Long To Be) Close To You the hit that it should have been...one of the greatest songs BB/Davis ever...
