Ugh.
My review copy just came in -- and it's a MASSIVE disappointment. This transfer (AVC encoded) is WORSE, in every facet, than the MPEG-2 transfer of the original Blu-Ray.
Why? DNR. LOADS of it. So much that there's hardly any grain in the film at all -- and as a result, a loss of detail that makes the leap to HD worthwhile. At times I thought I was watching an SD master so much has been glossed over in this transfer.
Too bad, because it has all the extras on there everyone wanted -- but if all you care about is watching the film itself, buy the original Blu. It's not perfect either but it's cheaper and looks more like a MOVIE than this overly processed transfer.
Also doubly disappointing because Fox has been doing such a good job of late too. Not this time.
