Tyler Perry (?!?!) Cast as Alex Cross in Patterson "Re-Boot"

So much for this "reboot" of the Alex Cross (i.e. Morgan Freeman) character from the James Patterson novels "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came a Spider".

This was SUPPOSED to star Idris Elba (excellent actor) under the guidance of director David Twohy -- and now it's TYLER PERRY starring...not as Madea...but as Alex Cross!!

Talk about utterly strange. Maybe it'll be in 3-D?

I thought it might have been a joke -- but it's not.

Does anyone take Perry seriously as a leading man? The guy has been a cross-dressing grandma for dozens of movies which play to the black demographic.
