Huge new column with the first Eureka discs to arrive in the U.S., plus Arrow, MVD, Shout and Warner Archive titles in this week's Aisle Seat:

Andy

Handgun was shown at cinemas in the UK for 2 weeks, it did not go straight into the VHS market. There were 12 prints in the country (as per my records of the day) & they were sent to EMI owned sites - ABC cinemas. Distribution was Columbia - EMI - Warner.

It was then held back for 10 weeks & then into VHS pattern.

No idea what the USA did with it. But it was one of the many EMI films to flounder.

Interesting to see it reappear after all these years. It was an almost impossible sell at th etime that is for sure. I guess it is Studio Canal now days as they control the EMI catalogue or most of it.

Exactly Andy, it was licensed through Studio Canal. Very odd Warner picked it up for the American market but sat on it. The director claimed it was because of TIGHTROPE but I don't know how accurate that was.
