The articles I've read indicate that SOLO will indeed be in Into Darkness territory - it won't break even until it hits home video - and even there it may take some time. I expect they'll issue multiple "exclusive" editions just like was done with Into Darkness to try to push up the numbers.

Wondering how Disney will react to this - I have not heard of any forward motion on anything other than Episode IX at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing them do another Solo movie in a few years, but it sounds like the taste for this has been soured.

Yeah I think there is a 0.0% chance of ever seeing a SOLO sequel. And if they ever had a thought of just "rebooting" Indiana Jones with a young nobody, this movie ought to give them plenty of pause also...in fact, I wonder if they hadn't signed up Spielberg if they'd even be making that movie now (how far down the rabbit hole on that are they?).

As for STAR WARS I think it's pretty simple:

1. Make better Star Wars movies (Last Jedi hangover was a huge part of this -- lots of people seemed to have the same mindset I did, and been disinterested in paying to see Solo from the get-go. Whether that's because the idea of Solo had little appeal, or Last Jedi was terrible, or both -- it surely played a part).

2. Make less of them (As I wrote before, harder to overcome a disliked film like Last Jedi when it's a barely 6 month hiatus between releases)

Easier said than done, of course...and how much damage they've done to the brand in a larger perspective is an interesting thought to ponder. If they had never made ROGUE ONE or SOLO -- and instead spent more time cultivating THE LAST JEDI and the story lines for VIII and IX of this sequel trilogy -- they'd have probably seen LAST JEDI's receipts substantially higher, and gotten a much much higher return on IX than they are going to end up seeing as well.

I mean, there were years of anticipation for RETURN OF THE JEDI coming after EMPIRE...and I can tell you after THE LAST JEDI, that kind of excitement amongst a deflated fan base ain't there, and won't be there either. It's not even close.
