Today at the Movies - September 22nd, 1989

Oh the days when your neighborhood multiplex showed movies like THE ABYSS - at 12:30am! This particular chain also had just a single matinee before 6 too. Weird.

One big new fall release, SEA OF LOVE, on hand here from this Showcase ad. (Note back then different chains sometimes had exclusive deals with specific studios, so there were more movies playing back then on this date -- just weren't showing at this particular chain).

Fascinating that this Louisville, Kentucky ad shows a theatrical release for FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2 -- which never played in the northeast, ever, that I remember (and we used to get the Boston Globe, the Providence Journal and Hartford Courant weekly because our neighbor had a newspaper truck, so I scoured the movie ads every day). I was also desperate to see it...a trip to the Caymans in 1990 would be the first time I ran into it in theaters (didnt see it though until it home video).
