Re: DUNE 2: SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN THIS TIME - November 3rd
Long and short of it, I mostly liked Dune Part Two (there will be a Part Three which will be his take on Dune: Messiah). Spoilers ahead : First and foremost, Hans Zimmer is the s**ttiest so-called "composer" on the face of this planet. His noise sounds like an elephant farting in an echo c...

Re: Arrow Releasing CONANs in January; 4K Box $42
Just received my box set and watched the 130 minute version. Man...this movie brings back memories...specifically watching it at a friend's house on HBO that he stole from the neighbor's feed (back in my day you could turn the TV dial to a place in-between two channels which would somehow allow you ...

Re: DUNE 2: SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN THIS TIME - November 3rd
I am just hoping it delivers the goods...I know I am in the minority on this board, but I absolutely loved the first half of the story. So far, IMO, the filmmakers are doing right by the book(s)...hoping they finish strong. Not reading any reviews or watching any clips as I want to go in as obliviou...

Re: This Week's Aisle Seat - A Smashing CONAN 4K Double Bill
I had the cassette of the Conan the Destroyer score back in the day...listened to it a couple of times before it ended up in a cassette case somewhere never to be heard from again. Lol...the score for Conan the Barbarian is a completely different story. I remember when Varese released an expanded ve...

Re: Changes to Amazon Prime Video (i.e. ads)
Sorry to hear this is happening...they will always figure out a way to try to get more money out of you! Frankly, this whole thing seems to me to be unethical and a grave disservice to customers...total middle finger to the consumer and a worshipful stance towards money in our "attention econom...

Re: INDIANA JONES & THE DIAL OF DESTINY To Rival "John Carter" As Disney's Biggest Bomb
I have listened to DoD only once...nothing really stuck out to me. It has a modern feel to it musically, but it is just kind of "there". In contrast, I do think the recent SW scores have themes and an overall flow (I agree with you Ed) - I admit that I really like Rey's theme (wish her cha...

Totally agree...and I admit I cried a little towards the end of the film. Lol...AndyDursin wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 11:25 am The film was about making the decision to live, and even though there was talk of death, both in the war and as a sacrifice against Godzilla, the point was a reaffirmation of living.

Re: INDIANA JONES & THE DIAL OF DESTINY To Rival "John Carter" As Disney's Biggest Bomb
The cumulative impact of these scores he's written for Disney have, sad to say, added little/nothing to his creative legacy, but they've mostly been successful in keeping him active with those peripheral things he wants to do (and get paid handsomely of course in the process). I still feel those St...

Re: Ridley Scott's Napoleon - "Clumsy, Funny" Critics Torch Scott's Latest
Have no regrets passing on it. Still annoys me that he couldn't get a French actor to portray Napoleon...to be honest, as stupid and immature as it is, that is the one thing that prevented me from watching it in the first place. Now with all the negative press, I will continue to pass on it.
