I could barely see the clip because of the fractured internet down here, but I liked what I saw. The blonde female lead has the same hairdo as Sally Kellerman in Where No Man Has Gone Before -- so is this a remake (on a much larger scale) of that episode?

I notice Cumberatch's role is still identified as Khan (rumored) and Alice Eve's character isn't named at all. It'll be interesting if they make her Carol Marcus.

I recall someone claiming Cumberbatch was playing Gary Mitchell...who knows. Does anyone actually know the story? Isn't it still under wraps?

This trailer is full of everything I hate about modern genre pictures -- ostentatious CGI effects, the emphasis on orange and teal, frenetic (and CGI embellished) fight sequences, every shot is an arial tracking shot, etc.

I'd rather watch the old show with its painted backdrops and props made from salt shakers. It's more believable.

What I can tell from both trailers is that they seem to have learned the wrong lessons from the first movie. I agree that there appears to be a lot of the really bad "shaky cam" photography, and more of an emphasis on heavy action and moodiness than on the exploration and discussion encouraged by the real Star Trek. This movie is also another post-production 3D conversion, although some footage on set was done with the specific intent to be used as 3D elements. They also appear to have used the same television director for the second movie, rather than going and getting a qualified feature director as was recommended. One has but to wonder how the movie will be received. Will this be another Prometheus?

I wonder if they got rid of that awful engine room set from the first film? That really was awful.

David one of these days you will have to tell us how you REALLY feel about JJ Abrams. lol.

I liked the original, and PROMETHEUS, and I'm seeing this movie...even though it has shaky cam and looks "dark"
and "edgy"...sorry!

I actually enjoy J.J. Abrams television work. The pilot for LOST was a wonderful TV movie and a great experience. He really should stay with his strengths. It's truly a shame that he didn't do the right thing and ask the LOST producers if he could direct the final episode so that like Michael Rymer on BSG, he could bring the story home in a decent fashion.

And there's a lot in Prometheus to like, particularly in the design areas. I just meant by reference that there was a big buildup of interest - including for me, which wound up resulting in a big letdown and a backlash once the movie opened.

And I'm more than concerned about yet another post-production 3D conversion - those almost never work out very well.

Pretty sure that's a NON spoiler in that story....lol. Unless the spoiler is that there isn't a spoiler! Could still be Khan though...trailer's got some of that going in there.
