RIP Jonathan Demme
Re: RIP Jonathan Demme
Demme had apparently been fighting cancer for some time.
I will remember him for various good films, but my favorites are Melvin & Howard, and the superlative Stop Making Sense.

One of his earliest credits was directing one of the stronger later "Columbo" episodes "Murder Under Glass" with Louis Jourdan.

Wish we could see his original cut of SWING SHIFT before Goldie Hawn and the Warner execs apparently ruined it.
Always liked SOMETHING WILD also. Weird road trip/romantic comedy/thriller with Melanie Griffith, Ray Liotta and Jeff Daniels in the lead. Uneven but it has a certain something, and offbeat charm, that makes it easy to return to.

Loved SILENCE OF THE LAMBS...movie, score, acting. Creepy and effective film.
