GREAT RAID: Already Rare?

#1 Post by AndyDursin »

I'm not sure how many copies Miramax pressed of the Director's Cut of THE GREAT RAID (2-disc Edition), but it's no longer in stock at Amazon and seems to be in few numbers (if available at all) elsewhere.

Just a heads-up for anyone interested in this set -- not a perfect movie but worth seeing, and this might be possibly quite collectible as well.

Yet another movie chewed up and spit out by the Miramax marketing machine. You know, it's a curious thing that the Brothers Weinstein have been in many ways so successful and influential in the industry, and yet they still have managed to screw many of their own projects.

I had zero interest in seeing TGR until I saw that John Dahl directed, who seems to be incapable of making an unentertaining film. If it has been left to die it's a shame. I've heard many, many people say what's happened is not reflective of the movie's quality.

Not a great movie, and disjointed in places, but well worth seeing.

Isn't the only way to see this in widescreen to buy the 2-disc set?

Yes! Believe it or not....and it definitely seems to be out of print for whatever reason. Most sellers only have the full-screen version on Ebay, and Amazon is still out of stock.

This is the first major release I've seen in years go out of circulation so quickly...
