I honestly thought this was an April Fool's prank when it was first announced, but this has to have the oddest pedigree I can think of. Fincher shooting a Tarantino screenplay spun off from his Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood with Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role. Considering Tarantino's Film Or GTFO attitude, it's weird he's handed this off to a digital fetishist like Fincher, let alone making it for Netflix.
Fincher has an exclusive deal with Netflix so if he's involved that's where its going to go. Whats odd is that Sony lost the rights to the original so fast because Tarantino worked the deal so he would get rights back after a couple of years (literally). So an odd project indeed!
In semi-related "spinoff" news, this SOCIAL NETWORK PART II is happening without Fincher -- or even Jesse Eisenberg. He's being recast!
Like what's the point of calling it a sequel if it has a different star and director really...people used to do that stuff decades ago but we know how it turns out (INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU lol -- and at least they didn't try saying it was a PINK PANTHER movie at the time!).
