Just watched the trailer. Looks like someone copied what they thought were the best bits out of Terminator and T2 and upgraded the effects to CGI. I'm surprised how tired and flat the whole thing looks. Sounds like I'll just stick with the Blu-rays of the first two movies and not worry about this one. You guys were mentioning that they're planning sequels already? Given how Schwarzenegger's movies have been doing lately, I'd strongly recommend that they wait to see what happens here first. I'd hate to see them wind up with another Amazing Spider Man 2 or a Star Trek Into Darkness situation where they have to scramble with home video sales just to break even on overspending.
Looks good to me -- a sequel/reboot/whatever you want to call it that toys with the original timeline. Of course I've also liked all the movies in the series, so I guess I can be classified as a "fan" lol, but I'm very intrigued by the concept. Big colorful action, remixed characters, and it doesn't look like it has any of the bland, washed out cinematography we've gotten all too used to. Plus Emilia Clarke looks hot. Count me in!
Variety reported that they dated the sequels for 2017 and 2018 back in September. I'd guess they will wait for returns next summer before giving the greenlight, but they also lose the rights to Cameron in 2019 because of some copyright claim, so if the film does do well, they will have to get into production fast. Not that I care for Christophe Beck at all, but my god, at this point why doesn't Zimmer just write a COMPUTER PROGRAM and sell it to the studios so every movie sounds EXACTLY THE SAME.

Amazing how the name of one person (Hans ZImmer) can take a project I am somewhat interested in seeing and turn it into a project I don't want to see as much...lol...don't make the suggestion Andy! If he heard it I'm sure he would go into production and sell it...the Hans Zimmer MIDI Sound Bank.

"Executive Music Producer" = let's pay him a fistful of dollars to sit in his studio and press a bunch of keys on his computer. Then hand those notes off to an underling (this guy), and let him finish running the computer simulation. lol

On the one hand, I kind of want to go "ho-hum" because it's just repurposing elements from Terminator I and II...but on the other hand, it does seem it's repurposing them in an interesting way. The presence of Schwarzzenegger (in both his current age and a CGI-refashioned younger version) is a plus, as is the twist regarding John Connor's character.
Unfortunately, it looks pretty formulaic from a visual standpoint (and promises to be likewise from a musical one as well).

I feel the same way Paul, but I liked 3 and 4, so I'm on on this. Interesting they are using the John Connor "twist" which was reportedly supposed to be a part of 4 as it was originally written, but changed before shooting.
The movie looks fun -- not all dark and gloomy -- and I've liked every one of these films...so...I'll be there. Provided Theo has a babysitter!

Same here...I've never subscribed to the "If it's not James Cameron, it doesn't count!" fanboy whining about the third and fourth movies. Rise Of The Machines is brisk, unpretentious B-movie filmmaking (albeit expensive B-movie filmmaking) that's more in tone with the first movie than the bloated, pretentious second film, and Salvation is slick, exciting, and boasts extraordinary visual effects (especially the faux-Arnie at the end). The former does have some silly, self-aware bits of business, and the latter has a ridiculously hyperbolic performance by Christian Bale, but compared to the gravely disappointing third and fourth Alien films, I'd say the Terminator series has been more than respectable through its run.
