Both look promising -- Sandman, Venom and Hobgoblin (?) all out for blood, it looks like in SPIDEY 3, and I confess I always enjoyed GHOST RIDER's preposterous premise. Looks like the movie is going for broke with operatic visuals and fun, I'm hoping for the best!

Ummmm....I'm going to be skeptical about SPIDEY on first read- didn't we learn anything from the multiple villain debacles of BATMAN FOREVER and BATMAN AND ROBIN??? BATMAN RETURNS would have been much better had Penguin not been a member of the story.
On the positive side, I kinda always liked Sandman.

GHOST RIDER looks horrible and considering that it is directed by the guy who made DAREDEVIl... oh my... proof not every comic needs to be made into a movie. looking forward to the young score at least.
SPIDEY 3 looks as uninteresting as the first 2 to me... yawn... oh now he has to battle his evil side... how original... as if I havent seen that before. I really don't know why SPIDERMAN is so succesful, the movies go through all clichees there are all the time and dont offer anything new, nor really spectacular. Only the score by Young will make it remotely interesting to me and his cues for the train scene in part 2 show how powerful the score for S3 will become and how much better it will be than Elfman's contributions. Still, I don't think I will watch it... both SPIDEY movies were 2 of the few movies I haven't watched till the end. major yawners...

I actually liked DAREDEVIL more than SUPERMAN RETURNS...yup, call me crazyromanD wrote:GHOST RIDER looks horrible and considering that it is directed by the guy who made DAREDEVIl... oh my... proof not every comic needs to be made into a movie. looking forward to the young score at least.

Roman is it a German thing but you guys are not overly found of superheroes over there in the first place, no? Not being critical, I think you said that before and I do understand these American comic book adaptations don't always translate overseas.romanD wrote:SPIDEY 3 looks as uninteresting as the first 2 to me... yawn... oh now he has to battle his evil side... how original... as if I havent seen that before. well, in general we're not that much into comic books... they are not taken seriously at all.
the movies do well since xmen I guess, but the old batman movies never did special business. Xmen and spiderman do pretty well, but still far from as well as in the us.
and I think especially SUPERMAN RETURNS will have a hard time here as he seems to us the most bland and uninteresting superhero of them all.
Im not very much into Superhero stuff, though I like the xmen movies a lot. But Spiderman is really beyond me... the comics may be good, but the movies fullfill every clichee there is ("I wanna be an actress"... where does she end up? as a waiter... yawn... then she is an actress... "I'll come to the show!" of course he doesn't make it to the show... yawn again... and so forth... also in each movie there is a nice scientist who blows himself up and becomes crazy and has nothing better to do than catching spidey... yawn... they really have the same formula as every Godzilla movie... yaaaaawn...
I formyself enjoy comic books a lot, but hardly ready any superhero stuff... I like POWERS, interesting take on the Superhero stuff, FIREBREATHER... just that my dad is a big bad dragon and wants to rule the world, but has marriage trouble with my human mom is a hilarious idea.
besides that I rather read all stuff by Ben Templesmith... can't wait to see 30 days of Night... but that they spend 70 millions on that seems like they will water that down quite a lot. GLOBAL FREQUENCY is/was awesome and the unaired pilot for the TV was very promising. Just read one episode of it and put on BURN TOWER from the SAHARA score... that gives you a rush!
THE WALKING DEAD is pretty great, too, as is Y-THE LAST MAN...
that's more the comic stuff Im into...

Well the one thing I am nervous about with SPIDER-MAN 3 is it's obvious Kirsten Dunst wants "out" of the series. Should that be the case, they ought to re-cast the role to preserve the continuity of the story, but I read some rumor they cast Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) as a fallback so she can take over the female lead in future installments.....which is NOT how it ought to be because Gwen tragically dies in the comics!!
Dunst, BTW, doesn't really fit my version of MJ anyway. The character ought to be a lot more upbeat and wackier, but she mopes around too much and lacks the personality of the character.
