Surprisingly good reviews for this one, but it's 91 minutes...is it worth $10.50??
I'm afraid to find out, plus I have POSEIDON on DVD to watch tonight (yes, already!!).

Actually the first flood of positive reviews must have been those studio-quote specials, as it's down to 33% on the RT meter (for what it's worth; it does have a lot of poor reviews from major critics listed there).
I'll probably go with TALLAGEDA NIGHTS, which DID get a majority of positive reviews, and I'm hoping for a solid comedy along the lines of ANCHORMAN, which I quite enjoyed.

I read the book which was very very good. But it is a plain drama, very emotional, whereas the movie is a mystery thriller. I really dont get that. Ok, there is this mystery whether the boy is real or not, but it is never anything you could use for any suspense. It is just about loneliness and running after a fantasy or something, the point whether the boy is real or not is not the point (though I didnt understand the understanding).
Maybe the trailer sell it the movie wrongly, but hey, it was shown at the Fantasy Film Fest, so I guess it must have some suspense/thrill aspects... which honestly where nowhere to be found in the book.
Well, I will watch it, just out of curiosity... and the book was really good, though a bit too graphic for my taste in terms of all the sex stuff...

I saw this movie last weekend.
Surprisingly good, but comes up short of great. Which is a shame, really, because it's 91 minutes of a great 120-minute film. Trouble is, it's only 91 minutes long.
Williams is given a full character to play, and the story is surprisingly textured for a suspense film. The performances, especially the always brilliant Toni Collette, are outstanding. The direction is stately and restrained.
The problem is that it ends without ending. Basically, after 90 minutes the credits come up, and you're left feeling unsatisfied. Some of the questions are answered, yes, but there's no "climax" to speak of. In the end it's a promising film with a couple of great performances and a nice (though clearly Philip Glass-inspired) score by Peter Nashel that's nearly sunk by the ending, or lack thereof.
Is it worth your $10.50? Debatable. Is it worth a rental? Definitely.
